IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- HD is only recommended if your design contains a lot of high quality photography or images.
- HD is not recommended for designs that contain large flat tints.
- HD will force digital printing on our HP Indigo presses in all cases, so it can become expensive on larger quantities where Litho printing would otherwise be used.
- HD printing uses a higher definition writing head on the HP Indigo presses, with double the addressability on the dot placement. It also switches the screen ruling from 175LPI to 250LPI.
REQUIREMENTS
- HD is available with all specifications except black and white, or cover spread widths greater than 730mm.
Requirements:
All lamination options require a minimum 'Cover Stock Weight' of 200gsm.
Cover (Outside)
Your choice of lamination finish on the outside of the cover.
Cover (Both sides)
As well as laminating the outside of the cover, we'll also laminate the inside as well.
Throughout
Every page of your Saddle Stiched Brochure will have your chosen lamination finish applied to it, including the inner and outer covers.
Additional Lamination Throughout Requirements:
Maximum thickness including lamination throughout is 5mm.
Inside Stock finish must be Silk and have a minimum weight of 130gsm.
Excludes Soft Touch, Linen and Leather finish.
Matt lamination:
A popular lamination which gives a very matt finish without dulling ink vibrancy.
Gloss lamination:
Creates a high-shine, glossy finish and makes printed colours stand out.
Soft Touch lamination:
Exudes a feeling of quality. Soft touch lamination gives a wonderfully tactile experience due to its smooth, velvety texture.
Anti Scuff lamination:
Offers extra protection against scuffs and finger marks while giving print a quality silk finish. This lamination is advised if you are printing with dark, solid colours like blue or black.
Linen lamination:
Use this lamination’s unique embossed pattern to create a distinctly heritage look. The tight grain and matt finish are scuff-resistant.
Leather lamination:
Finish with the appearance of fine-grained leather. This unusual lamination creates the illusion of a smooth cowhide surface pattern.
Foiling:
Metallic accents are great for giving a luxurious feel to print. All our foil options are metallic with the exception of Gloss Black and Gloss White.
Requirements:
Foiling requires a Cover Stock of 200gsm or more.
Spot UV:
Adds a shiny, gloss finish to specific areas of your print to give it extra visual impact.
Requirements:
Spot UV requires Matt, Soft Touch or Anti Scuff lamination for a Gloss or Uncoated Cover Stock. It is available on Silk Cover stock of 150gsm or more without Lamination.
Important:
Spot UV and Foiling adds 1 extra working day to production and is not available with express or express plus.
You will need to provide a guide for any Spot UV or Foiling. You must provide two PDFs of your artwork; one of your main print and one showing what areas you would like the Spot UV/Foil to cover. The areas you would like to Spot UV/Foil must be artworked in 100% black and must be exactly the same size and in the same position as your main image, so it fits directly over the top of it.
